Te Akau Te Rapa Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has three horses entered for the ten race programme on Saturday 21 May at Te Rapa.

As on raceday morning the conditions were: overcast and Slow9, rail out 7 metres. Heavy rain forecast.

11.15 a.m. R1 4 Windborne (3 f Darci Brahma - Sweet Dreams Baby) - Matt Cameron; staged a massive run through the pack for fourth to stable-mate Xtravagant (Pentire) in the $70,000 Cambridge Breeders 3YO Stakes (Gr. 3, 1200m) here three weeks ago, run in near track record time, and as a dual stakes winner she rates a good each way chance from barrier three in the $20,000 3YO 1200 metres.

2.04 p.m. R6 8 Brer (7 g China Cat - La Fox) - Daniel Miller; was tidy when finishing fifth in his first jumps assignment this season, over 4000 metres here a fortnight ago, in preparation for the $50,000 Waikato Steeplechase (4000m). Improved for the run, additional give in the ground should assist and at $8.00 fixed he resides on the fifth line of betting.

3.54 p.m. R9 4 Latin Rose (4 m Mastercraftsman - Down View) - Ryan Elliot (a3); resumed with a very good win in the Rating 75 1150 metres at Waipa, and remaining in the same grade for the $22,500 Rating 75 1400 metres she claims to 56kgs. Recording two of her three wins over 1400 metres, she faces a strong field, including hot favourite Let Me Roar (Rip Van Winkle), but warrants her place and expected to handle slow going.
