Te Akau Te Rapa Preview
23 October, 2017
Te Akau New Zealand has one horse racing on Monday (Labour Day) 23 October at Te Rapa.
As on race morning - the conditions were: raining (expected all day with 10mls forecast) with possible thundery showers and Dead4, rail true.
3.42 p.m. R7 4 Griffin (3 g Iffraaj - Double Elle) - Opie Bosson; followed a solid fifth resuming on 2 September in the El Roca - Sir Colin Meads' Trophy (Listed, 1200m), showing further improvement when a half length fourth on 7 October in the Sacred Falls Hawkes' Bay Guineas (Gr. 2, 1400m), both at Hastings. Drawn barrier five, with blinkers on, in the $100,000 James & Annie Sarten Memorial (Gr. 2, 1400m), he has handled rain-affected going in both the El Roca and when winning his only start as a two-year-old. Like him, a majority of his opponents are racing in great form at present. With no standout in the betting market, he warrants respect as a first three chance in what is always a stern contest. Fixed odds: $8.50 & $2.90.
