Te Akau Te Rapa Preview
Te Akau New Zealand has three horses racing on Sunday 21 January at Te Rapa.

As on Saturday 20 January the conditions were: cloudy and Dead4, rail out 8 metres. Showers forecast Sunday.

2.17 p.m. R3 2 Scrutinize (5 g Savabeel - Legs) - Opie Bosson; looked good in his action during an exhibition gallop on 15 December at Tauranga, but unfortunately lost his rider in the gates when resuming off a lengthy spell in the Rating 75 1300 metres on 2 January at Tauranga. He subsequently did everything right and trialled well on 9 January at Cambridge, with Bosson aboard, and a class factor to rate an each way chance from barrier two in the $16,000 Rating 75 1400 metres.

4.37 p.m. R7 1 Master Painton (3 g Reliable Man - Abbey Tralae) - Opie Bosson; mounted a strong finish for second in the Maiden 1400 metres on 15 December at Tauranga, and emulated the performance on the same course in the Maiden 1600 metres on 2 January. Appearing to meet a stronger field, he can prove an each way chance again with luck from a wide draw (17) in the $10,000 Maiden 3YO 1600 metres.

4.37 p.m. R7 16 Verbal Command (3 f Commands - Donna Sienna) - Samantha Collett; drops in class for the $10,000 Maiden 3YO 1600 metres, having contested the Royal Stakes (Gr. 2, 2000m) on 1 January at Ellerslie. Drawing barrier two should lead to an improved performance.
