Te Akau New Zealand has two horses racing on Waitangi Day, 6 February, at Te Rapa.

4.50 p.m. R7 4 Mongolianconqueror (3 g Ocean Park - Queen Rania) - Opie Bosson; got back on steady pace and closed stylishly for third in the 3YO 1500 metres on 14 January at Ellerslie, with Bosson aboard, following back-to-back wins. His last 600m sectionals have been excellent and expected to appreciate stepping in distance he appears a solid chance in the $100,000 Waikato Guineas (Gr. 2, 2000m). Fixed odds: $4.00 & $1.60.

4.50 p.m. R7 5 Griffin (3 g Iffraaj - Double Elle) - Michael McNab; continued notable form at his third start following a break, finishing fifth in the Rating 65 1600 metres on 19 January at Tauranga. He resumed here in December with a top run for third and now contests the $100,000 Waikato Guineas (Gr. 2, 2000m). His triple group one winning brother Gingernuts became a revelation when stepped over ground and lightning could strike twice. Fixed odds: $17.00 & $4.80.
