As on race morning, the conditions were: overcast and Slow7, rail true. No rain forecast.

4.20 p.m. R8 2 Bojangles (4 g Roc de Cambes - Stever House) - Chris Johnson; won meritoriously on Anzac Day in the Rating 65 1400 metres at Awapuni, clocking the fastest last 600m of the day (35.7) on Slow8 footing. His two runs since have also had good points - one on ground too heavy and the other off a wide trip. He would appear to match the ability of any rival in the $22,500 Rating 65 2100 metres and has the right rider aboard to offset both the weight (59kgs) and wide draw (14).
