Te Akau Te Rapa Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has four horses entered for the eight-race programme on Saturday June 7 at Te Rapa.

As on Friday June 6 the conditions were: fine and Dead6, rail out 10 metres.

12:13pm R1 15 Got The Snitz (2 f Snitzel - Modave) - Mick Dee (a1); was awkward to begin from a wide barrier when finishing seventh on May 10 in the 2YO 1200 metres on Slow9 at New Plymouth, and has blinkers on for her third start. Drawn barrier thirteen in the 2YO 1200 metres, better footing should provide an assist and running home strongly will be an encouraging performance.

1:16pm R3 9 Enhance (3 f Saperavi - Pinstinct) - Danielle Johnson; resumed here on May 17 when finishing sixth to Allez Eagle (Guillotine) in a strong 3YO 1400 metres. Back in class to contest the Benchmark 65 1400 metres, she has shown her ability in beating subsequent stakes winners Lady Cumquat (Duke of Marmalade) and Miss Mossman (Mossman) and appears capable of getting into the action given a reasonable passage from barrier ten.

4:09pm R8 3 Prospero (6 g High Chaparral - Alfred's Jewel) - Mick Dee (a1); travelled on the bridle back in the field and was seen doing his best work through the line in fourth when resuming on May 12 in the Benchmark 75 1600 metres on Slow9 at Tauranga. In the corresponding race, and again drawn wide, connections will be looking for him to run home solidly in a preparation for stepping up in distance next time out. He has a solid second up record and placed here at his only course attempt, over 2100 metres - one of two in the race for Te Akau.

4:09pm R8 12 Show No Emotion (4 m Pins - Lynisky) - Matt Cameron; gained clear galloping room on straightening, following a handy trip on the rails, and worked home for a dominant win on May 22 in the Benchmark 65 1600 metres at Hastings. Up in grade to contest the Benchmark 75 1600 metres, and stepping out in Saturday company for the first time, she has worked nicely in the interim and much will depend on the trip she can secure from a wide barrier.
