Te Akau New Zealand has four horses racing on Saturday 4 May at Te Rapa.
As on Friday 3 May the conditions were: fine and Dead4, rail out 3 metres. No rain forecast.
2.14 p.m. R5 5 Al Haram (6 g Sea the Stars - En Public) - Opie Bosson; nosed out
in a driving three way finish on 28 March in the Waipukurau Cup (Rating 72 2200
metres), before struggling on Heavy10 in the Rating 82 1950 metres on 22 April
at Rotorua. He meets a strong field in the $30,000 Rating 82 2200 metres, but
aided by the draw (3) and decent footing. Fixed odds: $8.50 & $2.90.
2.49 p.m. R6 2 Louis Luck (2 g Dissident - My Option) - Opie Bosson; won on
debut and freshened after contesting the Karaka Million (Restricted Listed, 1200m), won by stable-mate
Probabeel (Savabeel), both owned by Cambridge Stud. He looked good finding the
line for fifth to stable-mate and race rival Folk Dress (Pierro) in the 2YO
1000 metres on 17 April at Matamata, and shapes to prove competitive from
barrier three in a smart field for the $50,000 Waikato Equine Vet Centre
2YO Stakes (Listed, 1100m). Fixed odds: $9.50 & $2.70.
2.49 p.m. R6 8 Folk Dress (2 f Pierro - Gypsy Chimes) - Craig Grylls; made it back-to-back wins with an
emphatic victory in the 2YO 1000 metres on 17 April at Matamata, and contests
the $50,000 Waikato Equine Vet Centre 2YO Stakes (Listed, 1100m). She
fought hard for fourth on debut in the Woburn Farm 2YO Classic (Gr. 3, 1200m)
at New Plymouth, had her confidence boosted in victory and the right trip from
barrier eight would see her stocks strengthen. Fixed odds: $5.50 & $1.95.
4.44 p.m. R9 3 Byzantine (3 g Savabeel - Baradevi) -
Jonathan Riddell; has required time since racing as a two-year-old, and
finished a close fifth when solidly supported in the Waikato Equine Vets 2YO Stakes (Listed, 1100m) at the
corresponding meeting last year. He has trialled well recently with Riddell
aboard and looking to get his career back on track with a good effort in the
$22,500 Rating 65 1200 metres.
