Te Akau Te Rapa Sunday Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has five horses racing on Sunday 24 November at Te Rapa.

1.10 p.m. R2 7 Star of Bombay  (3 f Atlante - Astardia) - Craig Grylls; followed a strong finishing trial with very good debut performance in the Maiden 3YO Fillies 1200 metres on 6 November at Avondale. From a handy position on the inner, she looked the winner before being claimed on the line in a fast final 600 metres (34.7). She rates an each way chance from barrier eight in the $10,000 Maiden 3YO 1200 metres. Fixed odds: $2.90 & $1.30. 

2.20 p.m. R4 2 Cicciolina (4 m Burgundy - A La Votre) - Opie Bosson; ended her previous stint in May with a big effort for third here over 1400 metres and finished equal third when resuming in the Maiden 1200 metres on 2 November at Awapuni. Contesting the $10,000 Maiden Fillies & Mares 1200 metres, barrier one aids her prospects of rating a top four chance. Fixed odds: $5.50 & $2.05. 

4.04 p.m. R7 8 Ripley  (6 g Rip Van Winkle - Visique) - Opie Bosson; made the necessary improvement, second-up, when closing strongly in good time (33.6) for fourth in the Rating 65 1400 metres on 2 November at Pukekohe. Ideally drawn (2) in the $15,000 Rating 65 1600 metres, having been a course/distance winner in November helps the cause in rating a top four prospect. Fixed odds: $4.20 & $1.70. 

4.30 p.m. R8 9 Witchery (5 m Savabeel - Now the World) - Opie Bosson; ran home strongly from last to finish second when trialling on 7 November at Taupo, and resumes in the $15,000 Rating 65 1200 metres. Now in foal, she was a smart Maiden winner over 1200 metres, acts fresh, and rates a top three chance from barrier one. Fixed odds: $3.90 & $1.50.

4.30 p.m. R8 17 Ristretto  (4 m Makfi - Espresso Cavallo) - Danielle Johnson; has finished off the pace in two starts here over 1200 metres since resuming. Although drawn wide (10) in the $15,000 Rating 65 1200 metres, she receives an opportunity to show improvement third-up from a spell. Fixed odds: $41.00 & $7.00.
