Te Akau Te Teko Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has three horses entered for the nine race programme on Wednesday 17 June at Te Teko.

As on Tuesday 16 June the conditions were: fine and Heavy10, rail true.

11.30 a.m. R1 11 Miss Chief (5 m Keeper - Dainty Lace) - Cameron Lammas; tied up in the heavy going on debut recently at Matamata, and fared similarly in a trial prior at Cambridge. Her fitness is improving all the time and she trialled solidly here when finishing fourth on April 30 to suggest the possibility of a bolder showing in the Maiden 1400 metres.

12.00 p.m. R2 4 Scandinavian (3 g Dylan Thomas - Blanche Amelia) - Cameron Lammas; has shown to be his own worst enemy of late by over-racing, and hopefully by dropping back to 1200 metres the race tempo will see him travel more kindly. His trial win here on April 30 provides a good guide to him handling the footing and he seems a young horse with more in store as he gains experience.

4.07 p.m. R9 17 Bordeaux (3 g High Chaparral - Our Echezeaux) - rider to be advised; has had a devil of a time making fields of late and this is no exception as he requires defections to get in off the ballot. As stated in the Stewards' Report he was checked out of contention in the straight at Ruakaka, and with the addition of blinkers if he was to gain a start then a solid performance would be expected.
