Te Akau Te Teko Preview
14 June, 2016
Te Akau New Zealand has four horses entered for the eight race programme on Wednesday 15 June at Te Teko.
As on Tuesday 14 JuneĀ the conditions were: fine and Heavy10, rail out 7 metres. No rain forecast.
12.10 p.m. R1 4 Bobtail (2 f Alamosa - Cavendish Belle) - Cameron Lammas; debuted in March over 1200 metres at Matamata, and resumes off 77 days with visor blinkers on in the Maiden 2YO 1200 metres. She displayed some athleticism trialling on reasonable ground, from a good family, and the Alamosa / Thorn Park mare cross could assist handling the going.
12.10 p.m. R1 6 Sensitive Smile (2 f Murtajill - Forbetterforworse) - Matt Cameron; pleased the rider when trialling in May at Cambridge, and makes her debut in the Maiden 2YO 1200 metres. She looks a particularly nice three-year-old in the making.
2.30 p.m. R5 1 Tatters (3 f Tavistock - Rattle) - Michael Coleman; produced a very game performance off the front when finishing second, with the addition of visor blinkers, in the $12,000 NZB Insurance Pearl Series Rating 65 1400 metres for fillies and mares (eligible for $11,500 bonus) on Heavy11 at Matamata, and steps to a mile in another Pearl Series race. Although striking a slightly stronger field, she should prove very competitive again from barrier one.
3.04 p.m. R6 11 Niamh Elizabeth (3 f Per Incanto - Trove) - Matt Cameron; travelled up well before peaking on testing ground in the $12,000 NZB Pearl Series Maiden Fillies & Mares 1200 metres at New Plymouth, and could come on for it in the Maiden 1200 metres if appreciative of the course and type of going.
