Te Akau Te Teko Preview
30 January, 2017
Te Akau New Zealand has four horses racing on Monday 30 January at Te Teko.
As on Sunday 29 January the conditions were: fine and Dead4, rail true. No rain forecast.
12.50 p.m. R1 4 Spritz (4 m Thorn Park - Spray) - Matt Cameron; received no room in the straight when resuming in the Rating 65 1200 metres on 12 January at Wanganui, after trialling well behind stable-mate Xtravagant (Pentire) on 13 December at Te Aroha. An NZB Pearl Series winner over a mile in June, with Cameron aboard, she has drawn ideally in barrier three and should appreciate increased distance in the Rating 65 1400 metres.
12.50 p.m. R1 5 Colorado Prince (3 g Alamosa - Sweet Dreams Baby) - Cameron Lammas; was caught wide but displayed resounding attributes to win on debut in the Maiden 3YO 1400 metres on 2 January at Tauherenikau, and drawn barrier four in a field of eight for the Rating 65 1400 metres. A half-brother to stakes winning stable-mates Darci's Dream and Windborne, both by Darci Brahma (Danehill), he has the right credentials to measure up.
2.35 p.m. R4 3 Gingernuts (3 g Iffraaj - Double Elle) - Matt Cameron; got back off a wide gate and had a lot of traffic to contend with in the straight, second-up in the Rating 65 1400 metres on 20 January at Tauranga, after finishing fourth over 1200 metres on 31 December at Stratford. Drawn barrier one in the Rating 65 1600 metres, he won a trial here as a two-year-old and has the professionalism, determination, and galloping ability to bounce back.
2.35 p.m. R4 5 Fastnet Fire (4 m Fastnet Rock - Dragon's Tail) - Cameron Lammas; gained an advantage a furlong out, only to be swamped on the line when finishing third in the Rating 65 1600 metres on 12 January at Wanganui. A winner second up over a mile in December at Hastings, she can prove competitive following a favourable trip from barrier two in the Rating 65 1600 metres.
