Te Akau Te Teko Preview
21 March, 2018
Te Akau New Zealand has three horses racing on Wednesday 21 March at Te Teko.
As on race morning the conditions are: fine and Good3, rail true. No rain forecast.
12.32 p.m. R1 1 Princess Davone (5 m Iffraaj - Nikey Davone) - Cameron Lammas; worked home solidly for fourth after trailing eventual winner Joe Cargo (Authorized) in the South Waikato Cup (Rating 70, 2000m) last Wednesday at Matamata, and contests the $11,000 Rating 70 2100 metres. She fought bravely after leading for second here in the Rating 75 2100 metres on 29 January at her only course attempt, has previously handled a short turnaround in races, highest rated (69) in a field of five, and has the right credentials.
1.07 p.m. R2 10 Together (3 f Ocean Park - More to Love) - Michael McNab; looked above average in winning her two recent trials at Taupo, and debuts from barrier four in the $10,000 Maiden 1200 metres. Bred and owned by Waikato Stud, she is from the lightly tried but talented Danasinga mare More to Love and her grand-dam, Flying Floozie (Pompeii Court), made a huge name for herself as the dam of world-class galloper Starcraft (Soviet Star). Tucked in behind the pace, she seems capable of threatening first up.
4.02 p.m. R7 6 Qian Gua (3 g Cape Blanco - Cool Diamonds) - Michael McNab; found the line in tight quarters for sixth after racing in midfield on debut in the Maiden 1400 metres on 22 February at Wairoa. Looking for further, he contests the $10,000 Maiden 1600 metres. He has the gate speed to settle handy from barrier six and natural improvement could rate him a top four chance.
