Te Akau Te Teko Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has five horses racing on Monday 28 January at Te Teko.

As on Saturday 26 January the conditions were: fine and Dead5, rail true. No rain forecast.

12.59 p.m. R2 12 Enduring Love (3 f Camelot - Holy Moly) - Matt Cameron; given time since finishing fifth in the Maiden 1400 metres on 12 December at Hastings, and has the addition of visor blinkers in the $10,000 Maiden 1200 metres. She has struck some strong fields and appears ideally placed to rate an each way chance from barrier one.

1.34 p.m. R3 10 Qiji Crystal(3 f Per Incanto - Moss Lady) - Matt Cameron; worked home well for fourth and fifth respectively before a nose defeat in good time (34.4) on 2 January in the Maiden 1400 metres at Tauranga. The winner, Rippa Eagle (Rip Van Winkle), scored again next time out at Ellerslie. Although drawn barrier nine in the $10,000 Maiden 1600 metres, she looks a readymade favourite.

4.28 p.m. R8 1 Lord High Spirit(6 g High Chaparral - Azumi) - Jonathan Riddell; trialled twice in November and resumes after last racing on 15 July at Sha Tin. Stakes placed in the Sunshine Coast Guineas (Gr. 3, 1600m) before an unsuccessful stint in Hong Kong. Although drawn widest (12) in the $10,000 Rating 65 1400 metres, he could bob up with a favourable trip.

4.28 p.m. R8 2 Fabulous Flight(4 g I Am Invincible - Court Flying) - Nik Bakar (a3); wound up strongly to win the Maiden 1400 metres on 28 November at Rotorua, given Slow7 footing, and continued solid form with a notable fourth, despite no favours, in the Rating 65 1600 metres on 13 December at Ellerslie. Given time since, he contests the Rating 65 1400 metres where claiming to 56kgs should see him go well with a decent run from barrier eight.

4.28 p.m. R8 5 Full of Grace(4 g O'Reilly - Tuesday's Child) - Matt Cameron; was caught very wide when resuming in the Rating 65 1200 metres on 3 January at Te Aroha, having trialled well for third prior, and ideally drawn (2) for a much better trip in the Rating 65 1400 metres. He spelled in May following a very good victory over 1400 metres at Ruakaka, and should go well.
