Te Akau Te Teko Sunday Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has five horses racing on Sunday 6 October at Te Teko.

Weather: cloudy, track: Slow8, rail: true. 3mls rain forecast Sunday morning.

1.17 p.m. R1 5 Savy Yong Blonk  (4 m Savabeel - Ampin) - Craig Grylls; ran the fastest final 600m (34.7), coming from last to finish fourth, when resuming in the Rating 82 1400 metres on 14 September at Ruakaka. Third in the Sunline Vase (Gr. 3, 2100m), with notable efforts in the Desert Gold Stakes (Gr. 3, 1600m), Sir Tristram Fillies Classic (Gr. 2, 2000m), and NZ Oaks (Gr. 1, 2400m) last season, she has the class to threaten from barrier two.

4.12 p.m. R6 4 Prise De Fer (4 g Savabeel - Foiled) - Opie Bosson; resumed with a solid performance for third off a wide gate when resuming in the Rating 72 1300 metres on 20 September at Taupo, and contests the $11,000 Rating 72 1400 metres. Destined to go further, having raced well in the $1m Karaka Million 3YO Classic (Listed, 1600m), Avondale Guineas (Gr. 2, 2100m), and spelled after the NZ Derby (Gr. 1, 2400m) in March, he again rates an each way chance, with blinkers on, from barrier six.

4.12 p.m. R6 7 Meteoric Lass (5 m Stratum - Benatar) - Danielle Johnson; resumed with a very good second the Rating 72 1200 metres on 31 August at Ruakaka, before fighting hard on Heavy10 in the Rating 72 1300 metres on 14 September at Awapuni. She has the ability to rate an each way chance from barrier one in the $11,000 Rating 72 1400 metres.

4.47 p.m. R7 2 Te Akau Dragon  (4 g Power - Cool Diamond) - Opie Bosson; was much improved second-up when fighting hard for third after working forward in the $10,000 Rating 65 1400 metres on 18 September at Matamata, with Bosson aboard, and contests the corresponding event. He won a trial here last season, ideally drawn (2), and should appreciate track conditions.
