Te Akau Te Teko Trials' Report

Te Akau trialled horses on Tuesday June 3 at Te Teko.
The footing was rated Slow7, with the rail out fourteen metres.

Heat 2 2YO 800 metres (2 lengths, 2 ½ lengths 48.1)
Jimmy Rea (2 g Thewayyouare - Maureen Terese) - Matt Cameron (pictured below); jumped away smartly from barrier one to travel easily in front at good pace. He established a two length advantage passing the 250 metres and kept going strongly for a dominant win.

Heat 3 2YO 800 metres (1 length, head 49.2)
Sonsy (2 f Thorn Park - Flowing) - Matt Cameron (pictured below); worked across from the outside barrier in a nine horse field to settle comfortably outside the leader. She took over under a hold at the 300 metres and galloped out stylishly for a smart win.

2 f Red Giant - Mantles Princess - (Reese Jones); showed natural pace to lead from barrier one and stayed on solidly nearer the rail to finish in midfield.

Heat 4 2YO 800 metres (½ a length, 2 ¼ lengths 47.3)
2 f Savabeel - Mezaire - Matt Cameron (pictured below); worked into a nice position, fourth on the outer. She ranged into the clear on straightening and continued exerting willing attributes before gaining an upper hand near the line.

Heat 5 2YO 800 metres (1 ½ lengths, 1 ¼ lengths 48.2)
Giana (2 f Darci Brahma - Tristraad) - Matt Cameron; was sent forward to share the pace three wide and after establishing an advantage rounding the home turn stayed on solidly for fifth.

Owners with a great eye!

Heat 8 Open 1000 metres (¾ lengths, long head 59.7)
Alchemy's Flight (3 f Darci Brahma - Eloa) - Matt Cameron; was easy out of the gates to settle last of seven, standing the leader six lengths at the 600 metres. She worked up on the inside of horses entering the straight, in centre track, and made good ground for fourth.

Fast Fiction (4 g Fastnet Rock - Paperback) - Rory Hutchings (pictured below); settled back off the outside gate, was held together wide on the track and worked home solidly in an effort from which he will take good improvement.

Heat 9 Open 1000 metres (4 lengths, 1 length 1:00.3)
All Decked Out (3 c Darci Brahma - Diamond Deck) - Matt Cameron; idled along outside the leader and drawn wide in the straight he ran home solidly for second.

The Musician (3 g Minstrel Court - Carrots) - Reese Jones (pictured below) found the lead easily and against higher rated horses he kept up a good gallop for fourth, and would take good benefit.

Heat 12 2YO 1000 metres (1 ¼ lengths, 1 lengths 1:01.4)
Imperium (2 c Encosta De Lago - Ethereal) - Matt Cameron (pictured below); was out the back early over the sprint trip and stood the leader eight lengths passing the 600 metres. He quickened up widest of all rounding the home turn, displaying a good action and made good ground for fifth.

Heat 15 Maiden 1000 metres (1 ¼ lengths, 1 length 1:01.5)
My Fiancée (4 m Snitzel - Meet My Sis) - Matt Cameron (pictured below); tracked up in the best of the going, she let down appreciably widest of all to score an easy win with her ears pricked.

Heat 16 Maiden 1200 metres (½ a length, ½ a length 1:13.8)
Super Power (3 f Alamosa - Key of Future) - Matt Cameron (pictured below); was dictated from an inside barrier to race in the worst of the going nearer the rail and tired in the ground as runners swooped wider around the home turn.
