Te Akau Te Teko Trials' Report

Te Akau trialled horses on Thursday April 30 at Te Teko.  The footing was rated Slow9, with the rail out ten metres.

Heat 3 2YO 800 metres (3 lengths, 2 ½ lengths, 48.8)

Butch Cassidy (2 g Darci Brahma - Twelve Carat) - Cameron Lammas; jumped away well to trail and after coming between runners entering the straight he hit the line nicely to narrowly miss third.

Heat 6 2YO 800 metres (neck, neck, 48.8)

2 f Minstrel Court - Paixanito - Cameron Lammas (below); cleared the gates nicely to trail and found the ground conditions a bit tough in the straight.

Heat 7 2YO 800 metres (neck, 1 ¼ lengths 49.0)

Our Drahma Queen (3 f Darci Brahma - Queen Cha Cha) - Matt Cameron (below); was away well to settle just behind the pace, finishing off strongly for second and looked good.

Heat 8 2YO 1000 metres (1 ½ lengths, nose 1:02.3)

Fastnet Fire (2 f Fastnet Rock - Dragon's Tail) - Cameron Lammas; jumped away well to take a trail and was held together on going that proved too testing for her.

Heat 9 2YO 1000 metres (¾ lengths, ½ a length 1:03.4)

Rocksun (2 c Fastnet Rock - Beyond the Sunset) - Matt Cameron (below); was away well to position outside the leader, with blinkers on, and hit the line well for third.

Heat 10 2YO 1000 metres (5 lengths, head 1:01.4)

2 g High Chaparral - Dane Ripper - Cameron Lammas; jumped away well before settling in midfield, covered up and worked home nicely

Heat 11 2YO 1000 metres (½ a length, 2 lengths 1:02.0)

Bishop Rock (2 c Fastnet Rock - Festival Princess) - Cameron Lammas (below); cleared the gates nicely to position outside the leader and kicked hard off the corner before drawing away to win well.

Heat 12 Maiden 1000 metres (neck, 6 lengths 1:00.8)

Opulent (3 f Keeper - Silk Slipper) - Matt Cameron (below); got back in running and after tracking up widest of all around the home turn, looking for better ground, she hit the line well for third.

Heat 14 Maiden 1200 metres (neck, ½ a length 1:16.5)

Scandinavian (3 g Dylan Thomas - Blanche Amelia) - Cameron Lammas (below); had three rivals and tracked through on the inside to win well.
