28 August, 2015
Te Akau trialled horses on Thursday 27 August at Te Teko. The footing was rated Heavy10, with the rail out seven metres.
Heat 1 Open 1000 metres (½ a length, 2 lengths 1:03)
Madame Jamai (4 m Minstrel Court - Palais Jamai) - Ed Zac-Syed (below); was patiently ridden in fifth, five lengths off pace at the 600m and worked home nicely, holding her position, on footing too testing for her.

Heat 2 Open 1000 metres (¾ lengths, 1 length 1:03.2)
Babilloni (5 g Cecconi - Babillard) - Jasmine Fawcett (below); travelled comfortably in fifth and worked home wide on the track. It was a solid performance, giving the young apprentice an ideal first trial ride.

Show No Emotion (6 m Pins - Lynisky) - Ed Zac-Syed (below); was just out for an outing, on ground too deep for her, and tracked them along throughout at the rear.

Heat 3 Open 1000 metres (¾ lengths, 1 length 1:03.4)
Flirty Gertey (5 m Thorn Park - Grandma Gertey) - Ed Zac-Syed (below); settled third and ranged wider into the straight and, although unable to quicken, she was not urged in the going.

Heat 4 Open 1200 metres (2 ¼ lengths, ½ a head 1:17.3)
Ekraarstatic (5 m Ekraar - Nugget Point) - Michael Coleman (below); travelled nicely second on the outer, holding her place in a line across the track in the straight and kept on boldly in a photo for second (finishing fourth).

Imperium (4 g Encosta De Lago - Ethereal) - Matt Cameron (below); was urged along in fifth, standing the leader five lengths at the 600 metres and despite the short trip on footing too deep he produced good late work and rolled on nicely through the line.

Heat 5 2YO 600 metres (1 ¼ lengths, head 36.9)
2 f Alamosa - Zorina - Matt Cameron (below); flushed a touch wide into the straight but quickened appreciably and made up plenty of ground for second, in her first trial outing.

Heat 8 Maiden 3YO 800 metres (2 ½ lengths, ½ a head 49.7)
Forty Winks (3 f Rip Van Winkle - Far South) - Michael McNab (below); tracked up three back on the inner and without much room in the straight ran home nicely for fifth in an ideal educational outing.

Heat 9 Maiden 3YO 800 metres (neck, 6 lengths 49.3)
Grazia (3 f Savabeel - Trocair) - Cameron Lammas (below); settled back over the sprint trip and although unable to quicken in the ground she still produced a solid performance to finish in midfield.

Heat 12 Maiden 3YO 800 metres (long head, 2 lengths 49.8)
Red Poppy (3 f Iffraaj - Newgrange) - Matt Cameron (below); led up on the bridle from barrier one. A big staying type mare, she was collared in the straight over the sprint trip but displayed nice attributes and action in the process.

Heat 13 Maiden 3YO 800 metres (1 length, 1 ½ lengths 50.4)
Spritz (3 f Thorn Park - Spray) - Reece Jones (below); remained in the worst going on the inner from barrier one and never appeared to cope with the heavy track.

Heat 14 Maiden 3YO 800 metres (long neck, 1 ¼ lengths)
I See Fire (3 f Encosta De Lago - Chasing Mammon) - Cameron Lammas (below); was slowly away to stand the leader six lengths at the 600 metres, but was unable to quicken in the testing ground over a sprint trip.

Heat 15 Maiden 3YO 800 metres (long neck, 1 length 49.4)
Carmenize (3 f Any Suggestion - Zevita) - Cameron Lammas (below); began well to travel handy but wide and kept up a strong gallop, in a big effort, for second.

Heat 16 Maiden 4YO & Up 800 metres (¾ lengths, 1 ¼ lengths 49.1)
Our Drahma Queen (4 m Darci Brahma - Queen Cha Cha) - Matt Cameron (below); was first out and, remaining on pace, she put in determinedly for second, in a very good trial performance.

Heat 17 Maiden 4YO & Up 800 metres (3 ½ lengths, 1 ½ lengths 50.1)
Promosso (4 m Postponed - Promissory) - Michael McNab (team below pre trial); got back amongst runners in the rearward group and never appeared comfortable in the heavy ground.

Heat 18 Maiden 3YO 1000 metres (dead-heat, 1 ½ lengths 1:03.6)
Zambezi Warrior (3 g Pentire - Zambezi) - Michael McNab (below); settled handy but wide in fifth and drawn to a better part of the track on the outside he produced a strong finish to dead-heat for first, pleasing the rider in a very promising trial performance.

Fastnet Fire (3 f Fastnet Rock - Dragon's Tail) - Matt Cameron (below); got back in the running over the short trip, six lengths off the pace at the 600 metres and she looked to run home solidly on the extreme outside.

Heat 19 Maiden 3YO 1000 metres (¾ lengths, nose 1:03.7)
Gardenier (3 f Rip Van Winkle - Miss Montjeu) - Cameron Lammas (below); from three wide mid with cover in a compact field, she sighted clear air on straightening and unwound solidly to finish close up in fifth.

Heat 20 Maiden 3YO 1000 metres (½ a length, neck 1:03.7)
Our Abbadean (3 f Lookin At Lucky - Highland Lights) - Michael McNab (below); jumped well before steadying behind runners in a compact field. In the straight, she continued to pick up through the centre of runners and finished off strongly for a close third.

Heat 21 Maiden 3YO 1000 metres (long neck, 1 ¼ lengths 1:04.5)
Bishop Rock (3 c Fastnet Rock - Festival Princess) - Michael McNab (below); began well to co-lead on the inner and he never flinched in the run home, enjoying his work, to cross the line virtually on terms with the winner.

Rocksun (3 c Fastnet Rock - Beyond the Sunset) - Matt Cameron (below); travelled under a hold, three wide in fifth, and after receiving a check rounding the turn he worked home in pleasing fashion on the outside for fourth.

Heat 22 Maiden 3YO 1000 metres (long neck, head 1:04.4)
Duchess Kate (3 f Savabeel - Royal Prize) - Cameron Lammas (below green colours); landed on pace, three wide in a line of four, and travelled very well throughout. She did everything right and closed off hard for a close second.

Splurge (3 c Savabeel - Splashing Out) - Opie Bosson (below); contested the lead in the worst of the going on the inside, from barrier one, and was held together over the concluding stages on footing too testing for him - fifth.

Heat 23 Maiden 4YO & Up 1000 metres (long head, head 1:04.7)
Sequitur (4 m High Chaparral - Deduction) - Cameron Lammas (below); was let find his feet off the pace, six lengths from the lead at the 600 metres, but as a long strider was unable to gain any traction in the going and therefore held together by the rider.
