Te Akau Te Teko Trials' Report

Te Akau trialled horses on Tuesday 24 November at Te Teko - the footing was rated Good3, rail true -
Heat 1 Open 1000 metres (1 length, 1 length 58.9)
Arpeggio (4 m Tavistock - Macchiato) - Cameron Lammas (below); travelled easily third on the inner, tracked up behind the first two in the straight and showed a nice kick late in the piece to claim third.

Chambord (5 g Zabeel - Miss Montjeu) - Michael McNab (below); worked down to the fence, three back at the 600m, tracked into the clear on straightening and without urging rounded off solidly in a photo for third (fourth).

Heat 2 3YO 1000 metres (neck, 1 ¼ lengths 1:009)
Love Triangle (3 f Encosta De Lago - Love Diamonds) - Cameron Lammas (below); worked into a trailing position on the outer at the 800m, ranged four wide into the straight and reeled in the leaders to win easily.

Heat 4 2YO 600 metres (1 ¼ lengths, ½ a head 35.5)
Jimana (2 f Jimmy Choux - Love Me Not) - Michael McNab (below); began well to situate outside the leader and gained an upper hand inside the final furlong when asked to stretch and she won nicely.
2 g Charge Forward - Imposed - Ed Zac-Syed (below); settled in fourth on the outer and ran home strongly to claim second.

Corporate Missile (2 f Smart Missile - Corporate) - Cameron Lammas (below); was a stride slow from barrier one, but recovered to co-lead on the inner and ran home strongly to figure in a photo for second (third).

2 f Redwood - Volks Princess - Muhammad Hanafi (below); rounded into the straight in fourth and made ground, diving through late in a photo for the minors (fourth).

2 f Mastercraftsman - Lynisky - Jasmine Fawcett (below); was caught wide off the outside gate and although a touch green she quickened and ran home for fifth.

Heat 5 2YO 800 metres (1 ½ lengths, 1 ½ lengths 48.0)
Lucy Wyldstyle (2 f Savabeel - Lego) - Cameron Lammas (below); began well, before settling off the first four over the sprint trip but did everything right and worked through the line nicely in fifth.

Heat 6 2YO 800 metres (5 lengths, 7 lengths 47.0)
2 f Minstrel Court - Paixanito - Cameron Lammas (below); flew the outside gate to lead by three lengths at the 600m, increased the margin rounding the home turn and displayed a good action to win easily.

Heat 7 Maiden 3YO 800 metres (½ a head, head 48.0)
3 g Castledale - Elianto - Cameron Lammas (below); worked through to position outside the leader, quickened into battle at the 300m and showed a good action and plenty of determination to prevail in a close three-way finish.

Heat 8 Maiden 3YO 800 metres (neck, 2 ½ lengths 47.1)
O'Know (3 f O'Reilly - Know All) - Michael McNab (below); cruised up to second outer at the 600m, worked into a duel down the straight and went through the line strongly for third, pleasing the rider.

3 f Showcasing - Something Majic - Jasmine Fawcett (below); got back fifth, did everything right for her first trial in finishing fifth.

Heat 9 Maiden 4YO & Up 800 metres (1 ½ lengths 48.4)
4 m El Hermano - Santiga Lass - Muhammad Hanafi (below); dictated terms in front and found another gear at the 100m to win well - providing the jockey with his first trial win.

Heat 11 Maiden 3YO 1000 metres (½ a length, head 59.9)
Bounteous (3 f Saperavi - La Conga) - Michael McNab (below); began well to secure the trial, she remained camped just behind the leaders in the straight and without room over the concluding stages finished right amongst them in fourth.

Heat 12 Maiden 3YO 1000 metres (neck, 1 length 1:00.3)
Gardenier (3 f Rip Van Winkle - Miss Montjeu) - Cameron Lammas (below); was first out to travel sweetly in the trail and worked home well, in quite tight quarters, to finish just behind the winner.

3 f High Chaparral - Star Affair - Michael McNab (below); got back over the sprint trip after being checked against the rail at the 800m, ten lengths astern at the 600m, and quickened up late to be doing her best work through the line.

Heat 13 Maiden 4YO & Up 1000 metres (neck, 3 ½ lengths 1:00.9)
Latin Rose (4 m Mastercraftsman - Down View) - Michael McNab (below); began smartly before steadying alongside the leader and quickened appreciably to work through the line virtually on terms with the winner (second).

Heat 14 Maiden 4YO & Up 1000 metres (long neck, short head 1:00.6)
Chadsdale (4 g Castledale - Geeilani) - Michael McNab (below); worked across from the outside gate to fourth outer at the 800m. Once balanced in the straight, he entered into the fray at the 300 and when asked the question quickened in the last few bounds to win well.

Heat 15 Maiden 1200 metres (4 ½ lengths, ½ a length 1:12.4)
Paradise Rock (3 g Fastnet Rock - Apple Charlotte) - Michael McNab (below); jumped well to rail and lead. He travelled very quickly over the first six hundred metres, had a handy advantage turning in and was collared over the concluding stages (fourth).

Heat 19 Open 1600 metres (2 ½ lengths 1:40.4)
Wolfwhistle (5 g O'Reilly - Legs) - Michael McNab (below); strode along at a solid clip in front, put a break on his rival at the 250m and won well. He was focused on the job and the rider a good feel.
