Te Akau track work Thursday Jan. 16
Plough (Good):
Costa Viva (Hercock) worked solo over 1400 metres in 1:31, 1000m in 1:01.7, final 600m 36.7. Winner of 1000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m) in November at Riccarton, Costa Viva (Encosta De Lago) is preparing for her next start in the Desert Gold Stakes (Gr. 3, 1600m) on Saturday Jan. 25 at Trentham.
Costa Viva was purchased as a yearling by Te Akau principal David Ellis for $100,000 at the 2012 Gold Coast June Sale and not only has she already won the most coveted crown in the three-year-old fillies season but she leads the New Zealand Bloodstock Filly of the Year series with 19 points and has developed into a magnificent physical specimen. For her fortunate owners this is just the beginning as they have not only her racing career to look forward to but also the endeavours of her future progeny.
O'Darci (Hercock) worked solo over 1000 metres in 1:05.4, last 600m in 37.1. The winner of three from three, O'Darci (Darci Brahma) will have a quiet trial next Tuesday, Jan. 21, at Paeroa, before a return to racing.
