Te Akau track work highlights - Thursday 22 February -

Course Proper:

Set to race in the Matamata Slipper on Saturday, Handsome Rebel (Bosson) worked at three quarter pace over 1000 metres in 1.12.5, last 600 in 41.5.

Also preparing for the Matamata Slipper, Sword Of Osman (Bosson) worked at three quarter pace over 1000 metres in 1.14.5, last 600 43.5.

Age Of Fire (Bosson) worked solo at three quarter pace over 1000 metres in 1.14.5, last 600 in 42.5. Rating on top, Age Of Fire is due to contest the 3YO 1400 metres at Matamata on Saturday.

Splurge (McNab) galloped 1000 metres in 1.10, home in 39. Splurge is set to make the trip to Hastings to race in the Group 1 Haunui Farm WFA Classic on Saturday.

Swing Note (NcNab) galloped 1200 metres in 1.22.7, last 600 in 39.2. On a path toward the New Zealand Oaks, Swing Note is set to race in the Group 3 Lowland Stakes at Hastings on March 1.

Her last piece of fast work ahead of the Matamata Breeders' Stakes on Saturday, The Real Beel (McNab) worked on her own over 1000 metres in 1.09, last 600 in 42.

Avantage (Bosson) prepares for the Group 1 Sistema Stakes at Ellerslie on March 10 by galloping an easy 1000 metres in 1.08, home in 38.

No2. Sand:

Building toward the Group 3 Darley Plate at Ellerslie on 3 March, Heroic Valour (Bakar) worked along nicely at three quarter pace over 1000 metres, running the last 600 in 45.6.

Our Abbadean (Newman) prepares for the Rating 85 1600 metres at Matamata by working at three quarter pace over 1200 metres, running up the straight in 39.

Gris Dame (Tan) worked at three quarter pace over 1200 metres in 1.32, last 600 in 45. Gris Dame takes on the Group 3 Sunline Vase at Ellerslie field next Saturday, readying for the New Zealand Oaks at Trentham on 17 March.

Inspire Me (Leveque) worked nicely over an easy 800 metres, running the last 600 in 40 while Miss Scandinavia (McNab) galloped 1000 metres in 1.07.5, last 600 in 38.4.

All Weather:

Lady Of Camelot (Alam) and 2f Ekraar - Fiveundred (K Price) galloped nicely over an easy 600 metres in 42.

Set to race in the Rating 85 1600 metres at Matamata on Saturday, Scrutinize (McNab) galloped an easy 1200 metres in 1.25, last 600 in 41.

Mongolianconqueror (McNab) worked very well over 1200 metres, running the last 600 in 44. Mongolianconqueror is well on his way toward the Group 1 $1 million Vodafone NZ Derby at Ellerslie on 3 March.

Preparing to race at Hastings on Saturday, Wide Awake (Leveque) worked along nicely at three quarter pace over 1200 metres in 1.28, home in 42.

Ritzy Sparkle (Newman) and 2f Burgundy - Spin 'N Grin (Tan), Grand Ariana (Leveque) and Mongolian Angel (Newman) looked good galloping in pairs over an easy 600 metres in 39.9.

Flemington - Dirt:

Daniel Miller was very happy with Embellish, working at three quarter pace over 1000 metres in preparation for the A$1m Group 1 Australian Guineas (3YO SW, 1600m) at Flemington next Saturday (3 March) with Opie Bosson assigned to ride.

Randwick - Dirt:

Kerry Jones reports Melody Belle is eating well and is bright and happy. Also working at three quarter pace over 1000 metres, she builds toward the A$500,000 Group 1 Surround Stakes (3YOF SW, 1400m) at Randwick next Saturday (3 March) where Hugh Bowman takes the mount.
