On the course proper rated Slow:
Thrive (Miller) worked in company with Rapid Gain (Stack) over 1200m. Heavy fog prevented timing but both horses hit the line strongly with riders reporting they worked in good fashion. Thrive is preparing for the Winter Cup at Riccarton on Saturday August 3 and Rapid Gain will line up in a maiden 1200m event at Rotorua on Wednesday August 31, the final day of the season.
Three-quarter pace on the sand:
Precious Time (Richards) worked 600m, Alert (Miller) and Cold Snap (Demir) went over 800m in company, Secret Whisper went 1000m solo as did Sunset Pass over 1200m.
Jump outs from raceday gates:
Realize (1c Redoute's Choice - Rationalize) (Stack) with 1c Tale of the Cat - Quatro (Miller) worked away from the gates over 400m well.
1c Pins - Lowland (Rizmaan) with Bettorock (1f Fastnet Rock - Astounded) (Hazlett) broke from the gates for education and handled everything well, as did Fastnet Gold (1c Fastnet Rock - Miss Helga) (Miller) and Cathedral Cove (1c Zabeel - Thistle Cove) (Stack).
