Course proper (Dead):
Last start winner Chambord (Miller) and Costa Viva (Dee), who finished second to Bounding in the recent Gold Trail Stakes (Gr. 3, 1200m) at Hastings, worked over 1200 metres in 1:15.6, last 600m in 35.7. Trainer Jason Bridgman was happy with the way they galloped.
In their respective Guineas market, Costa Viva is currently at $8 for the 1000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m) and Chambord at $21 for the 2000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m). Both are pencilled in to race next in the Ray Coupland Stakes (Listed, 1400m) on Saturday Oct. 19 at Ashburton.
Earlier on the plough, Saturday entrant at Matamata, Prospero (Miller) and Flirty Gertey (Dee - pictured below), who follows a nose defeat on debut and steps out on Monday at Paeroa, went over 1200 metres in 1:17 and the last 600m in 36.7.
