Course proper (dead):

Six and a half-length Soliloquy Stakes (Listed, 1400m) winner Spellbinder (Hercock) worked with capable staying mare Sovereign Rose (Miller) over 1200 metres in 1:18.1 and 35.9 for the final 600m. It was lovely work by the O'Reilly filly as she prepares for the James & Annie Sarten Memorial (Gr. 3, 1400m) on Labour Monday, Oct. 28, at Te Rapa. Contesting the Benchmark 75 1600 metres at the same meeting, Sovereign Rose also worked very well and she is likely to produce a bold second up performance on her way to staying distances.

Plough:

Show No Emotion (Myers) and 4 g Darci Brahma - Royal Rhythm (Dee) recorded 1:02.8 for the 1000 metres, last 600m in 35.9.

Three-quarter pace:

Thrive (Miller) worked solo over 1400 metres at three-quarter pace. Abidewithme (Myers) went 800m solo. Prospero - pictured - (Hercock) and Sunset Pass (Dee) covered 800m in preparation for their respective 2400-metre races on Saturday at Ellerslie. King's Rock (Miller) went 800m before heading south for the Wellington Guineas (Gr. 2, 1500m) on Saturday at Trentham.
