Te Akau track work highlights - Thursday 18 August -
Heavy fog prevented any times this morning at Matamata.
Course Proper:
Two horses heading to the South Island this Saturday for the meeting at Ashburton next Friday 26 August were Carmenize (Lammas) and Play For Time (Cameron). They worked over 1000 metres on an improving course proper.
Twelves horses had a jump out from the race day barriers - of these, three horses had a jump out before heading for a break, they were 3g O'Reilly - Ethics (Cameron), 3g Pins - Santangelo (M Grylls) & 3g Red Giant - Celtic Class (Fawcett). The remaining nine horses are preparing to head to the Te Teko trials next Thursday 25 August. That group included: Epic Tale (Pinn), Shocking Luck (Lammas), 3c Savabeel - Pins On Ice (Fawcett), 3g Alamosa - Fidelitas (Cameron), Stolen Love (Pinn), Lady Painton (Pinn), Echezeaux (Cameron), Amperage (Lammas) & Madame Jamai (Fawcett).
No. 2 Sand:
Zambezi Warrior (McNab) was paired with Imperium (Shailer) over 800 metres, each looks in good order as he heads towards Te Teko trials next Thursday 25 August.
O'Reilly Star (Cole) looked to be working well going past the line over 800 metres at three-quarter pace. Tiffany's Time (Cameron) also covered 800 metres on her own.
Four pairs worked together over 800 metres as they prepare for the Te Teko trials next Thursday: High Chaparral filly Dame Margo Fonteyn (Cole) & a Zabeel filly Unfazed (Lammas), Smart Missile filly Sassy ‘N' Smart (Cameron) & Savabeel filly Lucy Wyldstyle (Fawcett), 3f Redwood - Volks Princess (M. Grylls) & Redwood gelding Discretely Red (Leveque) & Wide Awake (McNab) & Ocean Rock (Pinn). All riders were pleased with their respective mounts this morning.
Hall Of Fame (McNab), who heads to Hastings next Saturday 27 August for the three-year-old 1200 metre race, worked over 1000 metres on his own. Our Abbadean (Cameron), who goes to Ruakaka next Saturday for the Rating 75 1200 metre race, also worked over 1000 metres. Both horses look to be in for exciting campaigns with Hall Of Fame (Savabeel) following the three-year-old path towards Riccarton and Our Abbadean (Lookin At Lucky) working through the grades and aiming for black-type as a mare.
Beaumarchais (McNab) worked solo over 800 metres, rider Michael McNab was pleased with his work. He has a second trial on Thursday at Te Teko before he heads to the races.
