Te Akau Thursday Update

It was a beautiful day yesterday at Te Akau.  A light fog that was cleared by 8am and a stunning day for the remainder.  Today is a bit different, it is very grey and overcast and more rain looks imminent.  It is great at this time of the year because it is not too wet and allows us to do a lot of maintenance on the farm. With all our fertiliser on now, the grass is absolutely roaring away and we are going to go into the winter in really good shape.

At this time of the year most of our equine attention on the farm is in the breaking in of the yearlings that we bought from the sale. It really excites me to see young horses that have been broken in working around the farm.

One colt that really has impressed us all at Te Akau Stud is the Pins colt Lot 99 that we bought from Raffles Farm.  He is out of Laurinel Princess. I only paid $37,500 for this colt and he has been very promising in everything that we have done with him. He has been in the stable for the last two weeks and has really impressed everybody who has ridden him at the Matamata track.

A 10% share in this colt is just $3,750 plus GST and of course he is Karaka Million nominated.  He came from the Premier Sale and was purchased for a third of his true value in my opinion.

If you would like to be involved or see this colt please give me a call on 07 825 4701.  I am sure by tomorrow there will be no shares left in this colt.
