Te Akau Thursday Update

2

When you are a farmer you are never happy with the climatic conditions. Last Thursday we were making hay and didn't want the rain, but the next day had 28mls. This Thursday we haven't had any rain since then and now everyone in the Waikato wants it. It is hard to get it right all the time, that's for sure.

We were out on the farm bright and early taking photos this morning of the horses training at Te Akau Stud. Below you can see a great photo of Virtuous, an Encosta De Lago filly I bought at Karaka for $100,000 ridden by Sophia and Auriol, a Flying Spur filly I bought on the Gold Cost for $65,000 ridden by Amalie.

Today we have Te Akau transport spreading metal in gateways and filling holes that the horses have dug plus we have had a beautiful young visitor for lunch, my daughter Sarah who has come down to see us and brought fresh fruit and vegetables from Auckland. Sarah is a beauty therapist running her own business in Auckland. This is her busiest time of the year around Christmas and of course now that we are coming into summer.

This afternoon I have one of my favourite owners Mr Ronald Lau from Hong Kong coming to spend the afternoon with me. Ronald owns some of the best horses in the stables and is one of the loveliest men I have ever met.
