Te Akau Thursday Update

What a truly great achievement yesterday for all of the Te Akau team to win our 70th race in New Zealand for the season - and we are only in March!

I was thrilled for the Hawkins family who has such a great association with Te Akau going back to their involvement with Darci Brahma and Flying Fulton (to name a couple) so I was naturally rapt with Our Abbadean's win at Matamata.

It is exciting having both of our stables performing so well - Mark Walker is also in front in the Premiership in Singapore as the New Zealand team is here and Mark has a large team that I will be following this Friday and Sunday.

We are looking forward to a big weekend ahead. I am off to Sydney tomorrow for the sales and the races so if you want to be involved in a yearling from the Sydney sale please feel free to get in touch with me. Karyn is coming to Sydney after she heads down to join the exciting team of horses lining up at Manawatu. Unbeaten 2YO colt Heroic Valour and our smart 2YO filly Sassy 'N' Smart are both competing for Group 1 Manawatu Sires' Produce Stakes' honours while Silverdale contests the Group 2 Awapuni Gold Cup - a race that we have previously won with a horse that I bred called Distinctly Secret (who won the event twice) and also Better Than Ever.
