It was another successful day yesterday for Te Akau Racing and a great way to sign off Jamie's last day as Head Trainer for Te Akau with three further wins and five second placings. Congratulations to Fortuna and John Galvin for winning Jamie's final race and one named for him too. Fortuna also provided Jamie's first win as a sole trainer when the great Melody Belle won the Group 2 Lisa Chittick Foxbridge Plate at Te Rapa.
I love this time of the year especially seeing the grass change from brown to a beautiful green colour. It's also a terrific time of the year as we watch the young horses we are educating being taught all their new skills and being ridden around the farm each day.
Boy we have a new bunch of classy colts and fillies for Mark Walker and the team to train.
Isn't this Saturday shaping up as an exciting day for Te Akau Racing? It is Mark's first day back at Awapuni - and track he has enjoyed so much success at - as well as Avondale where we have a small team headed. We are really looking forward to seeing his first runner.
Karyn and I are heading to Awapuni on Saturday - unfortunately for the Club the COVID restrictions remain for now but we look forward to seeing those of our owners the rules allow.
We still have shares available in very exciting young horses so if you are keen and want to be part of the tangerine team, please call me on 021 925151 or email Karyn - [email protected] - you will really be made to feel very welcome.
Remember that in her year nine-time Group 1 winner Avantage was the very last horse to sell - as was Imperatriz in her year - she too became a Group 1 winner two weeks ago. Last is NOT least!
Best of luck to all our owners with runners this weekend and ...
GO THE TANGERINE!!
