Te Akau Timaru Friday Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has five horses racing on Friday 4 September at Timaru.

Weather: fine, track: Slow7, rail: true. No rain forecast.

11.27 a.m. R1 3 Lethal (4 g Savabeel - Katie Lee) - Jason
Laking; finished on the leaders heels when resuming in the Maiden 1100 metres on 12
August at Taupo, following a notable third over 1200 metres in March at
Avondale. He rates an each way chance from barrier six in the $10,000 Maiden 1200 metres.

1.00 p.m. R4 6 Bordeaux Le Rouge (3 g Burgundy - De La Vere) - Samantha Wynne; had
a very good two-year-old season, culminating a second, first, and fourth,
respectively, with fourth to stable-mate Cool Aza Beel (Savabeel) in the $1m
Karaka Million 2YO (Restricted Listed, 1200m). Two preparatory trials should
have him ready to act fresh-up in the $10,000 Rating 65 1200 metres and he warrants favouritism
despite drawing wide.

2.07 p.m. R6 3 Remington (6 g Darci Brahma - Kudamm) - Rohan Mudhoo (a2); did his
best work late when resuming in the Rating 93 1100 metres on 19 August at
Taupo, and contests the $15,000 Rating 91 1200 metres. Suited to further, the
winner of four, with four seconds, from 15 starts is capable of a bold showing.

2.07 p.m. R6 12 Phantom Witness (4 g Star Witness - Fandom) - Samantha Wynne;
looked good finishing second at the trials on 18 August at Te Teko, and the
winner of two from three resumes in the $15,000 Rating 91 1200 metres. Although
meeting higher rated rivals, he carries the minimum (54kgs) and has the goods
to threaten.

4.23 p.m. R10 3 Khafeef (5 g Champs Elysees -
Tawaareekh) - Jason Laking; finished fifth off a wide run when resuming in the Rating 65 1300 metres on 12
August at Taupo, and contests the $10,000 Rating 65 1600 metres. A
winner over 2100 metres in France, from four starts to 2400m, he should
appreciate stepping up in distance from an ideal draw (4).
