Te Akau Timaru Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has two horses entered for the ten race programme on Friday 9 October at Timaru's Phar Lap raceway.

As on Friday 9 October the conditions were: fine and Good2, rail true.

12.18 p.m. R1 5 Bishop Rock (3 c Fastnet Rock - Festival Princess) - Matt Cameron; was handy in the open and held his own on debut when finishing sixth in the Maiden 1200 metres on Dead4 footing at Riccarton. With the addition of blinkers and a tongue tie, he contests the Maiden 3YO 1200 metres. Drawn wide, the plan is to find cover in midfield and attack the line.

2.38 p.m. R5 5 Madame Jamai (4 m Minstrel Court - Palais Jamai) - Matt Cameron; comes in 27 days after resuming with a solid fresh up effort for fourth in the Rating 65 1200 metres on Slow8 at Ashburton. She has pleased in her work since at Riccarton, and drew barrier three in the Rating 65 1200 metres. With this rider aboard she won a $30k 1200 metres off the front last November at Riccarton, clocking 1:09.4 on Good3, and while further improvement is expected she should prove very competitive.
