Te Akau Timaru Preview
12 October, 2018
Te Akau New Zealand has four horses racing on Friday 12 October at Timaru.
As on race morning - weather: Raining, track: Slow8, rail: true
11.52 a.m. R1 20 Quattro Katie (3 f Zoustar - Kakakakatie) - Samantha Collett; got into a nice position from an awkward draw and finished solidly for third in the Canterbury Belle Stakes (Listed, 1200m) on 22 September at Riccarton. Ideally drawn (3) in the $10,000 Maiden 1200 metres, she appears nicely placed to threaten. Fixed odds: $2.30 & $1.15.
2.12 p.m. R5 8 Miss Scandinavia (4 m Smart Missile - Miss Helsinki) - Shafiq Rusof; produced a stylish fresh-up win in the Maiden 1200 metres on 22 September at Riccarton, and contests the $10,000 Rating 65 1200 metres. An improving mare, she steps in grade but can be competitive in this field. Fixed odds: $3.20 & $1.25.
2.47 p.m. R6 17 Summer Monsoon (4 g Stratum - Princess Narine) - Shafiq Rusof; won fresh-up by 4 ΒΌ lengths in the Rating 65 1250 metres on 30 August at Ashburton, with Shafiq aboard, before racing too keenly in front on 13 September in the Rating 72 1200 metres. He requires a couple of defections in order to gain a start in the $11,000 Rating 82 1200 metres. Ridden with cover from barrier four, he has the talent threaten and should handle the going. Fixed odds: $3.80 & $1.60.
3.56 p.m. R8 7 Swing Note (4 m Encosta De Lago - Andallthatjazz) - Jason Laking; is two from two in this campaign, both by big margins, most recently in the Rating 72 1600 metres on 13 September at Wingatui. Drawn barrier five in the $11,000 Rating 82 1600 metres, she brings the right form to test this field. Fixed odds: $1.75 & $1.08.
