Te Akau Timaru Sunday Preview
7 June, 2026
Te Akau Racing has three horses entered on Sunday 7 June at Timaru.
Timaru:
Weather: overcast, track: Heavy8, rail: true. No rain forecast.
12:37 p.m. R4 10 Tinuviel (3 f Too Darn Hot – Axiom) – Triston Moodley (a1); she closed strongly from beyond midfield posting the fastest last 600m (36.8) when finishing second on Heavy8 footing in the $17,000 Maiden 2YO & Up 1200 metres on 22 May at Wingatui. Apprentice Triston Moodley was also aboard on that occasion, and rides her again today in the corresponding event. She resumed two starts ago with terrific effort for a close third in the Maiden 1200 metres on 11 April at Riccarton, and rates a top three chance. Fixed odds: $4.60 & $1.95.
1:07 p.m. R5 4 Best Rose (3 f Maurice – Queen’s Legacy) – Triston Moodley (a1); she finished sixth after trailing in the Rating 65 1200 metres on 2 May at Riccarton, and lines up in the $17,000 Rating 65 1200 metres. She did well on Soft7 going for second the start prior, brings a solid record, and has the ability to deliver a top three finish from barrier four. Fixed odds: $5.00 & $2.10.
3:35 p.m. R9 9 Balance Of Power (5 g Almanzor – Respin) – Triston Moodley (a1); he was unable to quicken after making an early move to lead in the Rating 75 1800 metres on 2 May at Riccarton, and contests the $30,000 Dunstan Horse Feeds Waimate Cup (Open Handicap, 1600m). He found the line when resuming prior at Ellerslie, has time to settle in to Te Akau stables at Riccarton, albeit travelling to Wingatui only to see his race in the latter part of the meeting abandoned. He’s posted four wins to 2000 metres, carries the minimum weight (54kg), and is ideally drawn (5) to prove competitive. Fixed odds: $5.00 & $1.85.
