Te Akau track work highlights - Thursday 24 December -

Plough:

Duchess Kate (Hercock) and Our Drahma Queen (Zac-Syed) galloped 1000m in 1:03.6, last 600m in 35.5. Vinevale (Coleman) ran an easy 1000m in 1:07, last 600m in 38.1.

Opulent (Lammas) ran an easy 1000m in 1:08, enjoying her work. Gardenier (Fawcett) ran 1000m in 1:05, last 600m in 37. Thetruthisoutthere (Hercock) clocked the 1000m in 1:06.7, last 600m in 38.8.

Plough, three-quarter pace:

Xtravagant (Miller) enjoyed his work over 1000m in 1:16, last 600m in 44. The race record 2000 Guineas' (Gr. 1, 1600m) winner Xtravagant (Pentire) resumes in the $50,000 3YO 1400 metres on Boxing Day at Ellerslie.

Cathedral Cove (Richards) and Chambord (Hercock) ran 1000m in 1:10, last 600m in 40, both going well.

Echezeaux (Hercock) ran 1200m in 1:24, last 600m in 40.4. Echezeaux (Encosta De Lago) is being readied for the Maiden 1600 metres on Jan. 1 at Hastings.

Bishop Rock (Richards) covered 1000m in 1:13, last 600m in 42.3.

Arpeggio (Hercock) and Osmunda (Fawcett) ran 1000m in 1:11, last 600m in 41, both on the bit and working well. On Jan. 1 at Hastings, impressive fresh up winner Arpeggio (Tavistock) makes a return to the same venue for the Rating 75 1200 metres and Osmunda (O'Reilly) races on Jan. 2 in the Rating 65 1600 metres at Tauranga.

Astrid (Fawcett) produced nice work over 1000m in 1:10, last 600m in 39.8. Chadsdale (Shailer) did similar work.

Shillelagh (Lammas) went 1000m in 1:10.1, last 600m in 41.3, enjoying the work.

Flaming (Hercock) and Latin Rose (Miller) ran 1000m in 1:12, last 600m in 42.3.

O'Know (K. Jones) went 1000m in 1:16, last 600m in 44.7.

Carmenize (Lammas) ran 1000m in 1:10.6, last 600m in 42.3.

Jump outs, course proper:

Lady Jasmine (Hanafi) and 2 g Charge Forward - Catbird Kitty (Lammas) both went nicely over 600m at three-quarter pace.

2 f Murtajill - Forbetterforworse (Hercock), 2 g O'Reilly - Barbara Ann (Fawcett) and 2 f Savabeel - Catalina (Zac-Syed) jumped away and worked up to half pace over 600m.

2 g Alamosa - Paint Me a Dream (Lammas), 2 g Iffraaj - Double Elle (Miller) and 2 g Savabeel - Around the Clock (Hanafi) jumped away and worked up to half pace over 600m.

Te Akau track work highlights - Wednesday 23 December -

Plough, right-handed:

Smashing (K. Jones) went 1000m in 1:14, and easy last 600m, in pleasing work. Smashing (Pins) was claimed on the line last Saturday at Awapuni, and with 53kgs rates a handy light weight chance in the $60,000 Hallmark Stud Handicap (Listed, 1200m) on Boxing Day at Ellerslie.
