Te Akau Trans-Tasman Friday Preview

Te Akau Racing has one horse entered on Friday 26 September at Otaki in New Zealand, and one horse entered at Benalla, and at Moonee Valley in Victoria.?

Otaki:

Weather: overcast, track: Heavy10, rail: out 6 metres. 5mls rain forecast Thursday and 6mls Friday.

1:10 p.m. R2 5 Enchantment (2 f Hello Youmzain – Belle Fascino) – Craig Grylls; she began well to share the pace on the inner, quickened in a duel down the home straight, and found plenty in a close finish to hold off her rival in a trial on 26 August at Waipa. Debuting in the $40,000 2YO 800 metres, her dam Belle Fascino (Per Incanto) was a dual Group Three winner over 1600 metres, among her 10 career wins, and she won twice on heavy ground. While this filly won a trial on Soft5 ground, this is more testing here and much depends on how she handles conditions. Fixed odds: $3.70.

Benalla:

Weather: fine, track: Soft5, rail: true. No rain forecast.

3:15 p.m. (NZ) ~ 1:15 p.m. (Vic) R2 14 Titahi Bay (3 f Spirit Of Boom – Aotearower) – Liam Riordan; she found the Heavy9 conditions too testing when resuming in the Maiden 3YO Fillies 1100 metres on 28 August at Bendigo, and since ran home well for fifth in a quiet jump out on 15 September at Cranbourne. Contesting the A$42,500 Maiden 1206 metres, she brings a good trials' record, was third on debut, and is ideally drawn (4) to rate a top four chance.

Moonee Valley:

Weather: overcast, track: Good4, rail: out 3 metres. No rain forecast.

10:15 p.m. (NZ) ~ 8:15 p.m. (Vic) R5 1 La Dorada (3 f Super Seth – Gold Fever) – Craig Williams; she was doing her best work through the line after getting back to last from her wide draw when resuming in the Group 1 Moir Stakes (1000m) here on 6 September. Back from weight-for-age conditions to contest the A$200,000 Group 3 Dominant Scarborough Stakes (1200m) for 3YO Fillies, she is the highest rated (102) as a Group One winner, but enjoys level weights (56kg). In this race won by the stable last season with Bellatrix Star, she had her winning Karaka Millions' 2YO rider back on top and looks a top three chance despite another sticky barrier (9).  NZ TAB fixed odds: $10.00 & $2.90.
