Te Akau Trans Tasman Friday Preview
30 January, 2026
Te Akau Racing has one horse entered on Friday 30 January at Te Rapa, Hamilton, New Zealand, and one horse entered ay Cranbourne, Victoria.
Te Rapa:
Weather: fine, track: Soft6, rail: out 9 metres. No rain forecast.
4:05 p.m. R6 13 Petite Rocher (3 f Grunt – Little Rock) – Craig Grylls; she worked forward from a wide gate (12) to sit outside leader and fought really hard for a close second (short half-head) when debuting in the Maiden 1340 metres on 10 January at Wanganui. Contesting the $25,000 Maiden 1400 metres, she sustained a stout finish to win a trial on 16 December at Avondale prior to racing, and has top three claims from barrier one with the country’s leading jockey aboard. Fixed odds: $2.60 & $1.40.
Cranbourne:
Weather: fine, track: Good4, rail: out 6 metres. No rain forecast.
9:15 p.m. (NZ) - 7:15 p.m. (Vic) R3 5 Sheanadh (3 f Night Of Thunder – Disbelieve) – Michael Dee; she recorded a strong debut win, running the fastest last 600m (34.8), in the Maiden Fillies & Mares 1200 metres on 1 January at Mornington, also with Dee aboard. Since then the same pairing has also finished second in a jump out on 19 January at Cranbourne. Contesting the A$60,000 Benchmark 64 3YO Fillies 1200 metres, while she does face a better class of race here, she did win her debut really well, is ideally drawn (3), and can give this line up a shake. NZ TAB fixed odds: $7.00 & $2.10.
