Te Akau Trans Tasman Friday Siblings' Preview

Te Akau Racing has one horse entered on Friday 10 July at Otaki, New Zealand, and one horse entered at Geelong, Victoria - in a rarity, full siblings too!

Otaki:

Weather: cloudy, track: Heavy10, rail: out 5 metres. No rain forecast.

2:27 p.m. R4 1 Honour Roll (2 g Savabeel – Honor) – Michael McNab; he travelled sweetly in front before racing clear for a smart fresh-up win on Soft7 footing in the Pearl Series Maiden 2YO 1200 metres on 13 May at Matamata, also with McNab aboard, and steps up in the $80,000 Listed John Turkington Forestry Castletown Stakes (1200m). A compact and natural type of two-year-old, he has been a dual trial winner on Heavy10 going, his family appreciated yielding ground, and while he will need to handle the conditions, he rates a top three chance. Fixed odds: $1.95 & $1.15.

Geelong:

Weather: fine, track: Heavy8, rail: out 9 metres 1700m – 800m, remainder out 10 metres. No rain forecast.

4:00 p.m. (NZ time) R4 13 Get Honor (3 f Savabeel – Honor) – Jackson Radley (a1.5); the full sister to today’s New Zealand competitor, she finished sixth after travelling widest on Heavy10 footing in a jump out on 15 June at Cranbourne, and resumes in the A$27,000 Benchmark 64 3YO 1243 metres. She recorded a smart debut victory over 1200 metres on Good4 going, and like her little brother above, is from the family of dual Group One winner Te Akau Shark (Rip Van Winkle). She’s drawn the ace but much depends on how she manages the prevailing track conditions. NZ TAB fixed odds: $18.00 & $4.20.
