Te Akau Trans Tasman Midweek Preview

Te Akau Racing has four horses entered on Wednesday 12 November at Riccarton in Christchurch, New Zealand and two horses entered at Caulfield in Melbourne.

Riccarton:

Weather: overcast, track: Soft7, rail: true. 3mls rain forecast Wednesday.

2:07 p.m. R2 4 Zaharias (2 f Super Seth – Green Roller) – Craig Grylls; she produced a good effort for second on debut in the 2YO 900 metres on 26 October at Trentham, and contests the $65,000 2YO 1000 metres. A promising filly, she has improved building in to her second-up outing, the blinkers are on, and  from barrier two she should be right in the thick of things at the business end. Fixed odds: $2.40 & $1.20.

5:39 p.m. R8 1 Perfect Scenario (8 g Iffraaj – Rosetti Bay) – Rory Hutchings; he was posted back and wide in the TAB Mile Trial (Open Handicap 1400 metres) here on 25 October, and is one of two stablemates contesting the $250,000 Group 3 TAB Mile (1600m). This grand stable statesman is the winner of 11 races including four here, is a dual Group Three winner over 1600 metres, is a very genuine competitor and perfectly drawn (3) to race well. Fixed odds: $23.00 & $5.50.

5:39 p.m. R8 9 Stonybreck (6 g Tavistock – Fair Isle) – Craig Grylls; he dropped rider Opie Bosson when dipping at start in the TAB Mile Trial (Open Handicap 1400 metres) here on 25 October, for which he was the favourite. He too contests the race formerly known at the Coupland's Bakeries' Mile and demolished rivals (main photo) when winning the Open Handicap 1400 metres by five lengths here on 27 September. He too has drawn beautifully and with his stablemate, is expected to race very well.  Fixed odds: $9.00 & $3.00.

6:46 p.m. R10 4 One True King (3 g King’s Legacy – Chicharita) – Rory Hutchings; he followed his debut third with a resounding win in the Maiden 1400 metres here on 25 October, and contests the $65,000 Special Conditions 1600 metres. Blinkers go on, and while he meets a very even field with plenty of form, he is more than capable of a top four finish from the ace draw - and YES you can still grab a share in him today!!  Fixed odds: $3.50 & $1.75.

Caulfield:

Weather: overcast, track: Soft7, rail: true. 8mls rain forecast Tuesday and no rain Wednesday.

4:00 p.m. (NZ) - 2:00 p.m. (Vic) R2 7 Tower Bridge (3 c I Am Invincible – Palace Talk) – Craig Williams; he travelled second and drew out to win by two lengths when trialling on 30 October at Caulfield. Debuting in the A$55,000 Maiden 1000 metres, and by the reigning Australian Champion Sire, his dam won twice over 1200 metres and has left three winners of 12 races to 1500 metres. The trial win was encouraging, he is ideally drawn (2), and may handle the give in ground. NZ TAB fixed odds: $10.00 & $2.60.

5:10 p.m. (NZ) - 3:10 p.m. (Vic) R4 10 Seven Oceans (3 f Flying Artie – With Purpose) – Luke Cartwright (a2); she received a gorgeous trip when winning the Maiden 1000 metres on 31 October at Cranbourne, also with Cartwright aboard, and contests the A$50,000 Benchmark 64 3YO 1100 metres. While she does face stiffer competition racing against other winners, she is perfectly drawn (2) to make an impact. NZ TAB fixed odds: $11.00 & $3.00.
