Te Akau Trans Tasman Midweek Preview

Te Akau Racing has two horses entered on Wednesday 29 April at Woodville, New Zealand, and one horse entered at Caulfield, Melbourne.

Woodville:

Weather: fine, track: Soft7, rail: true. No rain forecast.

1:32 p.m. R3 2 Rise To Power (2 c Snitzel – Festivity) – Bruno Queiroz; he went a touch keenly behind the leaders at the 600m, quickened near the rail in the home straight, and sustained a good run for fourth in a trial on 7 April at Ellerslie. Debuting in the $22,000 2YO 1100 metres, he is by Champion Sire Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice), out of the Te Akau purchased and trained stakes’ winner Festivity (I Am Invincible), the winner of six races to 1200 metres. Part of the Magic Million’s 2025 two colt partnership, the other colt being Group 1 winner Seize The Day, he has been a dual trial winner and rates a top three chance from barrier three. Fixed odds: $8.00 & $2.50.

3:54 p.m. R7 5 Alman D’oro (3 g Almanzor – Seductive D’oro) – Bruno Queiroz; he began well to share the lead on the inner, was second at the 300m mark, and sustained a good run for fourth despite being unsuited on heavy ground in a trial on 16 April at Tauranga. Debuting in the $17,000 Maiden 2YO & Up 1600 metres, he has performed solidly in two lead-up trials, and is expected to race well first-up over a mile. Fixed odds: $8.50 & $2.60.

Caulfield:

Weather: fine, track: Good4, rail: out 3 metres. No rain forecast.

6:20 p.m. (NZ) - 4:20 p.m. (Vic) R7 8 In Haste (3 f Snitzel – Prompt) – Craig Williams; she quickened after leading to comfortably win a trial here on 26 March, and resumes in the A$50,000 Benchmark 70 1000 metres. A talented filly, she recorded two wins and was twice second from four starts, including a second in the Group 3 Gold Trail Stakes (1200m), when trained from our Te Akau stable in Matamata. With a handy draw (4), she has been working well and has the ability to deliver a top three finish.  NZ TAB fixed odds: $6.00 & $2.25.
