Te Akau Trans Tasman Midweek Preview
6 May, 2026
Te Akau Racing has one horse entered on Wednesday 6 May at Ellerslie, New Zealand and one horse entered at Warrnambool, Victoria.
Ellerslie:
Weather: overcast, track: Soft5, rail: out 9 metres. No rain forecast.
3:59 p.m. R7 2 Brazen Affair (4 m Brazen Beau – Southern Romance) – Opie Bosson; she fought well on Heavy9 footing for fourth in the Open Handicap 1150 metres on 28 March at Te Aroha, has been patiently handled, given the time she needed, and contests the $25,000 Rating 75 1100 metres. She ended her previous campaign with three wins and three seconds from six starts on the poly-track at Cambridge, and with the senior rider up, has the ability to prove competitive with any luck from her wide draw (11). Fixed odds: $11.00 & $3.30.
Warrnambool:
Weather: showers, track: Heavy8, rail: true. 5mls rain forecast.
6:30 p.m. (NZ) - 4:30 p.m. (Vic) R10 17 Noble Steed (5 g Zed – Test Of Honour) – Harry Coffey; he sustained a strong finishing run for a dominant win when resuming in the Benchmark 56 1860 metres on 29 March at Avoca, and since then ran home nicely for fifth in a hurdle trial on 8 April at Hamilton. Contesting the $50,000 Benchmark 66 2000 metres, he won his Maiden over this same distance. He brings a solid record, and while he steps up in grade and is preparing for a jumps’ campaign, he is still expected to race well but his wide draw (15) is of no help at all. NZ TAB fixed odds: $51.00 & $10.00.
