Te Akau Trans Tasman Saturday Preview

Te Akau Racing has six horses entered on Saturday 11 September: Te Rapa, and Kembla Grange (N.S.W, Australia).

Te Rapa:  ALL SCRATCHED DUE TO HEAVY10 TRACK CONDITIONS

Weather: showery, track: Slow9, rail: out 3 metres. 7mls rain forecast overnight Friday.

2.58 p.m. R5 1 Summer Monsoon (7 g Stratum - Princess Narine) - Niranjan Parmar (a4); looked good winning a recent trial and resumes in the $30,000 Rating 74 1200 metres. Before spelling in May, he quickened boldly to win an Open 1400 metres here on dead ground. The winner of two from four starts on the course, he has weight relief to 60kg but faces a stern task from the draw (11).Fixed odds: $13.00 & $4.00.

2.58 p.m. R5 6 Phantom Witness (5 g Star Witness - Fandom) - Troy Harris; winner of two, two seconds, from six starts, and never further back than fourth, he resumes in the $30,000 Rating 74 1200 metres. He has to negate a wide draw (13) and carry plenty of weight (60kg), but naturally athletic with ability to threaten if appreciative of the course at his first attempt. Fixed odds: $5.50 & $2.10.

2.58 p.m. R5 7 Exaltation  (5 m Not A Single Doubt - Meleka Belle) - Craig Grylls; impressive winning, she has trialled well in preparation to resume in the $30,000 Rating 74 1200 metres. A half-sister to former stable-mate Melody Belle (Commands), 14-time Group 1 winner, and dual Horse of the Year, she is ideally drawn (3) to produce a solid effort. Fixed odds: $12.00 & $3.80.

2.58 p.m. R5 15 Vincere  (5 m Pins - Lasting Luck) - Danielle Johnson; registered two wins and two seconds from four starts during her previous campaign, and following two good trials she resumes in the $30,000 Rating 74 1200 metres. Advantaged with reasonable weight (56kg), but requires luck from the outside gate (14). Fixed odds: $6.00 & $2.30.

4.08 p.m. R7 3 Te Akau Caliburn (7 g Camelot - Enchanted Evening) - Niranjan Parmar (a4); closed late for fourth in a recent trial and resumes in the $40,000 Open 1400 metres. Spelled in February after contesting the Avondale Cup (Gr. 2, 2400m), he has weight relief to 56.5kg but destined for further. Fixed odds:$15.00 & $4.20.

Kembla Grange:

Weather: fine, track: Good4, rail: out 5 metres 1100m - winning post, remainder out 2 metres. No rain forecast overnight.

4.40 p.m. (NZ time) R6 4 Entriviere (5 m Tavistock - Marcey's Belt) - James McDonald; had an outstanding season winning five of her seven starts and twice second. She included the Concorde Handicap (Gr. 3, 1200m), King's Plate (Gr. 3, 1200m), and ended her campaign in April after finishing second in the Sapphire Stakes (Gr. 2, 1200m) at Randwick, with McDonald aboard. She looked very good in two trials before going to Oz, since won a trial on 2 September at Randwick, and rates a top three chance from barrier six in the $200,000 Coolmore Sheraco Stakes (Gr. 2, 1200m). NZ TAB fixed odds: $2.40 & $1.30.
