Te Akau Trans Tasman Saturday Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has five horses racing on Saturday 26 September: Ellerslie, and Rosehill Gardens (Sydney).

Ellerslie:

Weather: fine, track: Dead4, rail: out 9.5 metres. No rain forecast.

12.50 p.m. R2 3 Quattro Quinta (2 g Darci Brahma - Quintette) - Troy Harris; drew out to win handsomely, with Harris aboard, when trialling on 15 September at Te Rapa, and debuts in the $10,000 Maiden 2YO 880 metres. Te Akau trained his dam, stakes' placed filly Quintette (Alamosa), in turn from well performed Everswindell (Align) - a family that can act fresh - and ideally drawn (4). Fixed odds: $2.60 & $1.30.

3.13 p.m. R6 1 Richard of Yorke (9 g Oasis Dream - Cascata) - Joe Kamaruddin (a4); returns to flat racing following two notable efforts for second and third, respectively, over hurdles. Yielding ground has aided his best efforts, but he receives weight relief to 58.5kgs in the $27,500 Rating 74 2100 metres. Fixed odds: $17.00 & $5.00.

3.48 p.m. R7 1 In A Twinkling (5 g Fastnet Rock - Moment in Time) - Opie Bosson; the Counties Cup (Gr. 3, 2100m) winner last season, he resumed with a solid fifth in the Rating 103 1400 metres on 5 September at Te Rapa. He likes the course: beaten a nostril in the NZ Derby (Gr. 1, 2400m), but faces a stern challenge under 62kgs from a wide draw (12) in the $32,500 Open 1600 metres. Fixed odds: $18.00 & $5.25.

4.57 p.m. R9 14 Vicenza (4 m Sacred Falls - Tonic) - Diego Montes de Oca (a1); recorded back-to-back wins to 1600 metres before spelling in March and resumes in the $27,500 Rating 74 1200 metres. Drawn wide (18), finding the line off a patient ride would be encouraging. Fixed odds: $26.00 & $7.25.

Rosehill:

Weather: fine, track: Good4, rail: true. No rain forecast.

4.50 p.m. (NZ time) R5 14 Pazienza (3 f Written Tycoon - Gypsy Chimes) - Kerrin McEvoy; impressed winning on debut as a two-year-old over 1000 metres in March at Trentham, and found the line strongly for third after steadying off the pace when resuming over 1000 metres on 12 September at Kembla Grange. She has to overcome a wide draw (11) in the $140,000 Schwepps Heritage Stakes (Listed, 1100m). Fixed odds NZ TAB: $18.00 & $4.80.
