Te Akau Trans-Tasman Saturday Preview

Te Akau Racing has two horses entered on Saturday 6 February: New Plymouth, and Caulfield (Melbourne) -

New Plymouth:

Weather: fine, track: Dead5, rail: out 3 metres. No rain forecast.

2.50 p.m. R5 1 Quattro Quinta (2 g Darci Brahma - Quintette) - Opie Bosson; freshened off a win and two seconds, he kept up a strong gallop to win when trialling on 12 January at Matamata, and resumed with a professional and defiant victory in the Wellesley Stakes (Listed, 1000m) on 16 January at Trentham. A combination of ability and the right attitude makes him a genuine threat in the $70,000 Woburn Farm 2YO Classic (Gr. 3, 1200m). Fixed odds: $1.85 & $1.10.

Caulfield:

Weather: fine, track: Good4, rail: true. 18mls rain forecast Friday night.

6.15 p.m. (NZ time) R7 1 Probabeel (4 m Savabeel - Far Fetched) - Damian Lane; recorded a tremendous victory in the $1m Epsom Handicap (Gr. 1, 1600m) on 3 October at Randwick, and spelled following a brave run on unsuitable wet ground in the Cox Plate (Gr. 1, 2040m). She sprinted home to gain ascendency in the last bound when trialling on 12 January at Matamata, and another hit out at the trials, given soft ground, on 28 January at Geelong. Resuming in the $160,000 Lamaro's Sth Melbourne Geoffrey Bellmaine Stakes (Gr. 3, 1200m), drawn the outside (11) makes it tough and look for her finding the line. NZ TAB fixed odds: $4.50 & $1.75.
