Te Akau Trans-Tasman Sunday Preview

Te Akau Racing has two horses entered on Sunday 22 October: Ashburton, and Seymour (Victoria).

Ashburton:

Weather: overcast, track: Soft6, rail: true. 4mls rain forecast Sunday.

1:35 p.m. R3 1 Talisker (3 g Embellish – Glenkinchie) – Sam Weatherley; he strode clear to win easing down when resuming in the Maiden 1200 metres (poly track) on 31 August at Riccarton, and found reserves for a strong victory in the Rating 65 1200 metres on 6 October at Timaru. Last season he finished powerfully for second to stable-mate Trobriand (Kermadec) in the Eclipse Stakes (Gr. 2, 1200m) and stretched out late in the Karaka Million 2YO (Restricted Listed, 1200m) won by stable-mate Tokyo Tycoon (Satono Aladdin). Drawn barrier four in the $18,500 3YO 1300 metres, he warrants favouritism.

Seymour:

Weather: overcast, track: Soft5, rail: true. No rain forecast.

6:50 p.m. (NZ time) R7 7 Sans Doute (4 m Not A Single Doubt – My Prerogative) – Blake Shinn; she resumed with a terrific run for a close second in the Benchmark 70 1000 metres on 6 October at Moonee Valley, and contests the A$40,000 Benchmark 70 1100 metres. Impressive when winning three times last season, she was runner-up in the Gold Trail Stakes (Gr. 3, 1200m), and is ideally drawn (3) to rate a top three chance.
