Te Akau Trans Tasman Sunday Preview

Te Akau Racing has two horses entered on Sunday 20 July at Oamaru, New Zealand and one horse entered at Hamilton, Victoria.

Oamaru:

Weather: overcast, track: Heavy10, rail: true. No rain forecast.

2:09 p.m. R6 10 Alminette (5 m Burgundy – High Heels) – Kavish Chowdhoory; she fought well for third after working forward to share the pace in the Rating 75 1400 metres on 26 June at Riccarton (poly-track), and contests the $35,000 Rating 75 1400 metres. She has been racing solidly on the poly-track, and has also placed in three of five starts on heavy footing. She meets strong field here, but is up to the task if she can overcome her wide draw (17). Fixed odds: $8.50 & $2.80.

2:41 p.m. R7 1 Bello Mio (5 g Deep Field – Bella Francesca) – Kavish Chowdhoory; he remained in midfield with a solid effort in the Rating 75 1200 metres on 21 June at Riccarton, has been given time (29 days), and drops in grade for the $35,000 Rating 65 1200 metres. He has previously been a winner on heavy ground, is handily drawn (2) in a somewhat open race, and is capable of proving competitive if he handles the going.  Fixed odds: $9.00 & $3.00.

Hamilton:

Weather: cloudy, track: Heavy10, rail: true. No rain forecast.

4:45 p.m. (NZ) ~ 2:45 p.m. (Vic) R5 6 Prismatic (6 g Savabeel – Kaleidoscope) – Steven Pateman; he made it four seconds in a row after sharing the pace in a steeplechase event over 3450m on 6 July at Warrnambool, and contests the A$40,000 Adam Lindsay Gordon Maiden Steeplechase (3400m). While this is his first start on this course, he has fashioned a very good jumps’ record, has the top rider aboard, and is a definite top three prospect.
