Te Akau Trans Tasman Sunday Preview

Te Akau Racing has two horses entered on Sunday 7 September at Timaru in New Zealand; one horse entered at Bendigo, and one horse at Bairnsdale (both Victoria).

Timaru:

Weather: fine, track: Soft5, rail: true. No rain forecast.

12:10 p.m. R1 7 Origin Of Love (3 f Snitzel – Re Edit) – Opie Bosson; she began smartly from the outside gate to situate second, changed stride at the 200m and let down well to finish second in a trial on 12 August at Avondale. Debuting in the $18,500 Maiden 3YO 1200 metres, she won a trial on Soft5 going as two-year-old, her dam won three times to 1600 metres and was Group Two placed in Australia. While we believe she is destined for further, she does have good gate speed and is a top three prospect from barrier four. Fixed odds: $2.50 & $1.20.

3:52 p.m. R7 6 Elegant Lady (6 m Highly Recommended – Lady Masako) – Opie Bosson; she travelled nicely and ran home solidly for third in a trial on 19 August at Ashburton. Resuming in the $25,000 Open Handicap 1600 metres, she has notched up four wins to 2200 metres, is twice stakes’ placed to 2400m, is course/distance placed at her only attempt to date, and his more than capable of a bold effort first-up. Fixed odds: $3.80 & $1.55.

Bendigo:

Weather: raining, track: Good4, rail: out 8 metres. 10mls rain forecast Sunday.

2:50 p.m. (NZ) ~ 12:50 p.m. (Vic) R1 4 Jezebel Jenni (3 f Cool Aza Beel – Legal Girl) – Craig Williams; she sustained a big run off a wide trip for second in a jump out on 25 August at Cranbourne, and debuts in the A$42,500 Maiden 3YO Fillies 1100 metres. By Te Akau trained Champion Two-Year-Old Cool Aza Beel, her dam Legal Girl (Star Witness) won twice to 1600 metres in Australia, and while destined for further, expect a bold  first-up effort in the famous c colours of ‘the other Jenni’. NZ TAB fixed odds: $8.00 & $2.50.

Bairnsdale:

Weather: overcast, track: Good4, rail: out 3 metres 800m – 400m, remainder true. Showers forecast Sunday.

4.50 p.m. (NZ time) R3 6 Toroness (4 m Toronado – Single Princess) – Jake Noonan; she found the line  well and finished not far away on the inner when having her first start for stable in the Maiden 1205 metres on 16 August at Warracknabeal. Contesting the A$32,000 Maiden Fillies & Mares 1000 metres, she has a handy draw (2) to race well again.
