Te Akau Trans Tasman Sunday Preview

Te Akau Racing has one horse entered on Sunday 21 June at Awapuni (poly-track), New Zealand, and one horse entered at Cranbourne, Victoria.

Awapuni:

Weather: overcast, track: poly-track, rail: true.

2:20 p.m. R5 4 Naughty Grannie (3 f Embellish – Tad Infinitum) – Rohan Mudhoo; she recorded the 130th win this season for Premiership leading trainers Mark Walker & Sam Bergerson, when winning the Maiden 2000 metres by nearly four lengths on 20 May at Cambridge (poly-track), but came unstuck with a wide trip in the Rating 65 2100 metres on 6 June at Ellerslie. Contesting the $17,000 Rating 71 2140 metres, she meets a solid field but receives a good opportunity to bounce back. Fixed odds: $10.00 & $2.90.

Cranbourne:

Weather: overcast, track: Heavy8, rail: true. 6mls rain forecast Saturday and no rain Sunday.

4:55 p.m. (NZ time) R7 4 Rainsun (3 g The Autumn Sun – Raindrops On Roses) – Lachlan Neindorf; he sustained an irresistible finish, on footing downgraded to Heavy10, for a second-up win in the Maiden 1715 metres on 4 June at Geelong. Contesting the A$35,000 Benchmark 66 2025 metres, he is a direct descendant of Melbourne Cup winner Let’s Elope (Nassipour), and his dam Raindrops On Roses (High Chaparral) won four races 2000m – 2500m. He steps up in grade but is ideally drawn (5) to race well again. NZ TAB fixed odds: $4.00 & $1.60.
