Te Akau Trans Tasman Thursday Preview

Te Akau Racing has two horses entered on Thursday 17 April at Matamata, New Zealand and two horses entered at Kilmore, Victoria.

Matamata:

Weather: raining, track: Soft7, rail: true. 23mls rain forecast.

12:05 p.m. R2 8 Lady Of Court (4 m Savabeel – Are There Any) – Jonathan Riddell; she closed late from rear in the Rating 65 1400 metres on 2 April at Pukekohe, and contests the $17,000 Rating 65 High-weight 1600 metres. She’s in a solid vein of form with a good win and fourth prior, and rates a top three chance if the track conditions remain reasonable. Fixed odds: $4.50 & $1.85.

1:18 p.m. R4 1 Towering Vision (2 g Circus Maximus – Qiji Vision) – Jonathan Riddell; he steadied for cover in fifth, quickened at the 300m, closing strongly near rail and was good through the line in a trial on 1 April at Ellerslie. Resuming in the $17,000 Maiden 2YO 1200 metres, he debuted with a good effort for third in the 2YO 1100 metres in December at Te Rapa, and rhe also is capable of a top three finish in a field depleted by scratchings. Fixed odds: $11.00 & $3.50.

Kilmore:

Weather: fine, track: Good4, rail: true.

4.00 p.m. (NZ) ~ 2:00 p.m. (Vic) R1 6 Vescovi (3 f Zoustar – Palazzo Cristallo) – Liam Riordan; she kept improving near the rail and did well getting through for second in the Maiden 1009 metres on 31 March at Yarra Valley, also with Riordan aboard. Contesting the A$27,000 Maiden 1100 metres, her dam has left two winners of six races over sprint distances, and she is more than capable of delivering a dividend in the compact field of six.  Fixed odds NZ TAB: $11.00 & $2.10.

6:30 p.m. (NZ) ~ 4:30 p.m. (Vic) R6 6 Vanishing (4 m I Am Invincible – Trail Of Secrets) – Liam Riordan; she raced in the open near the pace and fought hard for third when resuming in the Benchmark 58 1009 metres on 31 March at Yarra Valley. Contesting the A$27,000 Benchmark 58 1100 metres, she certainly displayed a sharp turn of foot winning on debut over 1100 metres, and then competed in Benchmark 72 races, and from barrier five can be right in the thick of things at the business end of proceedings.  Fixed odds NZ TAB: $3.40 & $1.40.
