Te Akau trialled horses on Tuesday Nov. 26 at Paeroa. The footing was rated Dead4, with the rail out 4 metres.
Heat 4 2YO 700 metres (head, 3 ½ lengths 40.4)
Duran (2 g Darci Brahma - Breezed) - Matt Cameron (pictured below); relaxed behind the first two, quickened appreciably when making a run at the 200 metres and closed off strongly for second. He displayed good attributes in his first trial.
Heat 11 Maiden 1000 metres (head, ¾ lengths 59.1)
4 g Faltaat - Ally McBeal - Matt Cameron; tailed the field from the outside gate and although positions never really changed he strode home nicely and displayed good stretch.
Heat 12 Maiden 1000 metres (head, 2 ½ lengths 58.7)
Seline (3 f Pentire - Dion) - Matt Cameron; showed gate speed to work across outside the leader and flattened out in her action while fighting determinedly for third (picture below Jason updating Fortuna owners).
Heat 13 Maiden 1000 metres (neck, neck 1:01.6)
Sky Music (3 f Stravinsky - Dawn Rhapsody) - Matt Cameron; was first out of the gates to lead, before trailing. A touch awkward rounding the home turn and without much room near the rail, she worked home solidly for sixth.
Heat 15 Maiden 1150 metres (4 ½ lengths, ¾ lengths 1:07.9)
3 f Zabeel - Thistle Cove - Matt Cameron; settled beyond midfield, tracked up behind runners in the straight to finish sixth and ran on past the line in good staying fashion (below Jason with Pencarrow Thoroughbreds' racing manager Gary Cossey).
3 g Strada - Show ‘em Girl - Samantha Collett; settled last of nine, came widest in the straight and made up ground to finish seventh.
Heat 16 Maiden 1150 metres (head, l length 1:10.1)
4 g Darci Brahma - Royal Rhythm - Matt Cameron; worked across to travel comfortably alongside the leader. The pair entered into a duel on straightening and he kept giving in a determined bid as they crossed the line virtually on terms.
Heat 17 Maiden 1150 metres (2 ½ lengths, 1 ¼ lengths 1:08.5)
3 g Redoute's Choice - Lady's Delight - Matt Cameron; began well before being steadied to fourth on the outer and still requiring time to strengthen he fought on in the straight.
Heat 20 Maiden 1670 metres (3 ½ lengths, 2 ½ lengths 1:46.2)
Cajero (4 g Encosta De Lago - Cashier) - Derek Nolan; travelled comfortably behind the leader throughout and under his own steam went on to lead at the 200 metres before galloping clear to win well.
Red on Black (4 g Red Clubs - Palais Jamai) - Craig Grylls; travelled on the outside of the leader and rounded off nicely to hold his position in second.
Highly Likely (3 g High Chaparral - Starrinka) - Matt Cameron; raced keenly at times in fourth and still requiring time to strengthen he finished fourth.
