Te Akau Trials' Report

Te Akau trialled horses at the jumps trials on Monday July 7 at Cambridge.

The footing was rated Heavy10 and the rail true.

Heat 1 Maiden Hurdle 2000 metres (20 lengths, 5 lengths)

3 g King's Chapel - Sea Rhythm - Daniel Miller; jumped amongst the pack, behind a tearaway leader, and although jumping a little too well at some stages he did everything required and now fully qualified as a hurdler (pictured centre in red cap at the track - on the left is the Fastnet Rock/Dragon's Tail filly and on the right, Grazia (Savabeel/Trocair filly).

Heat 2 Maiden Hurdle 2000 metres (½ a length, neck)

Secret Whisper (5 g Align - Danewhisper) - Daniel Miller; led keenly over the first three fences, but soon relaxed and jumped beautifully to finish close up in second. He delighted in his performance, was under no pressure and he too passed his jumps ticket. Daniel (Miller) reported he has a bit to learn, but he was impressed by the display.
