Te Akau Trials' Update

In the past week Te Akau has trialled horses at two venues:

Te Akau trialled two horses on Tuesday 14 June at Avondale. The footing was rated Slow8 and the rail was out 15 metres.

Heat 5 2YO Catchweight 800 metres (2.5 lengths, 1.5 lengths 47.37)

2g Darci Brahma - Amaryllis - Alysha Collett; drew barrier one and jumped away well to lead, he retained the lead throughout and kicked away in the straight to win his trial by two and a half lengths - seen below as a yearling at Karaka.

Heat 8 Open 1000 metres (5 lengths, 0.5 lengths 48.02)

2g Alamosa - Danewhisper - Jasmine Fawcett; jumped from the outside gate to settle in behind the leaders. He travelled well during the trial, the gelding peeled out on straightening and ran home well to finish fourth.

Te Akau trialled one horse on Monday 13 June at the Cambridge Jumping Trials.  The footing was rated Slow8.

Heat 5 Maiden Hurdle 2800 metres (5Len, 1.5Len)

Maestro (5g Encosta De Lago - Miss Scarlatti) - Reece Coles;  settled back in the small field, ranged up to the leaders at the third last fence, dipped on landing,but he picked himself up and finished third.
